Well...it's nearly here as I talk to myself in these eerily quiet forums I just created. This is one of the last things on my to-do this before clicking the button in the Android Developer Console to publish the app to OPEN BETA - which means unleashing a lot of blood, sweat and tears onto the general public!
It's been a long hard slog developing the app. I first had the idea for the app in July last year and stupidly thought I could knock it up in about 6 months. That's despite having absolutely no prior experience developing mobile apps. Also, having a unrelated full time job and a busy family life with young children that still want to spend time with me when I'm not at work (I'm sure that'll change as they grow in teenagers).
There's been some very steep learning curves as I've had to learn Kotlin, No SQL cloud databases, Python, how to use APIs and how to create and maintain virtual machines.
It's also been a bit of a lonely journey as I've stubbornly progressed by myself with only stack overflow and medium for development company.
And that's the reason, despite everything I've created for this app, it's this simple forum that I'm most excited about. That's because I hope that as people (hopefully) download and use the app, that we build a bit of a community here, and I hope that the app grows and evolves with the invaluable feedback this community could provide.
I can't wait to speak with everyone. I still have a fulltime job but I hope to be on as much as possible outside that, assisting where required with any issues but also, hopefully more than that, being part of a growing community of PITs users.
So with all that said, welcome to, and thank you, for joining the PITs journey. Let the PITing begin...as soon as I have the courage to click that publish button!
Pressed it ... gulp!!!
